The 30th international theater festival Belaya Vezha has become the most significant theater event in Belarus, Culture Minister Marat Markov said during the festival’s official opening ceremony on 10 September,

“It is quite exciting to be on this stage today. First of all, because despite its long history, this is the first time I have attended the festival, both as a minister and simply as a spectator,” Marat Markov said. “I am very happy to celebrate the festival’s 30th anniversary with you. It has not simply stood the test of time, but has truly become the most significant theater event in our country. This year’s festival is symbolic in a way. Audiences will see 30 companies and 30 theater productions. Companies from 10 countries will perform, and the productions will be presented in nine languages. This has never happened before, either on the scale of this festival or on the scale of the country.”He expressed confidence that the Belaya Vezha tradition would continue year after year.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Viktor Rafalovich, the festival’s 30th anniversary is a significant milestone in the cultural history of Belarus and Brest Oblast. “Over these 30 years, theaters from more than 60 countries have performed on its stages. We have seen many wonderful and talented actors and original creative solutions by directors. Most importantly, we have experienced a tremendous number of positive emotions,” he said.
Over 10 days, audiences will enjoy a diverse lineup of productions spanning multiple genres. The closing ceremony of Belaya Vezha will take place on 19 September.
