This unique opportunity - to see modern military equipment, the equipment of military personnel, and get acquainted with their way of life - last Thursday, students of grades 7-11 of the district schools, students of 1-3 years of the Ivatsevichi Agrarian College, and those who came privately took advantage of this unique opportunity.
The leadership of the unit organized such an event on the eve of an important holiday - the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
“The main goal of the Open Day is the patriotic education of our youth,” notes Alexey Mytnikov, deputy unit commander for ideological work. “We showed the guys samples of military equipment, and already in the barracks they will get acquainted with the life of soldiers, new uniforms and equipment. Guys often wonder if hazing exists in the modern army. We always say that there is no need to be afraid of the army; we have local guys serving in our service who knew each other well even before being drafted. Many came from neighboring areas - all, in fact, are fellow countrymen or neighbors, and therefore serve side by side as true comrades.
Among the guests of the unit that day there were many girls, they also got behind the wheel of military vehicles, many were interested in the ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun and the rarity - the 1950 model 57 automatic anti-aircraft gun. Among those who tried on the latest bulletproof vests and Russian-made Kevlar helmets with interest was Ilya Borsuk, an eighth-grader at Volkovskaya Secondary School. The boy admitted that he had already been to the unit, because his father, senior warrant officer Oleg Borsuk, serves here, but today he saw many things for the first time. Already now the teenager is sure: he will definitely serve, the army is a good school of life, he sees this in the example of his father.
