February 15, the Day of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, has become a day of military glory, which symbolizes not only your courage and dedication, but also expresses our deep gratitude for your international duty, performed in a difficult region of the planet, defending our common values and a peaceful future.
For many of you, this has been a difficult ordeal where you have shown courage, bravery and dedication. Your devotion and heroism, shown in the most difficult conditions, will remain in history as an example of selfless love for the Motherland.
Your service in Afghanistan was a testament to the high ideal of peace and justice, and your contribution to the principles of peacekeeping cannot be overstated.
We are sincerely proud of our fellow countrymen, who on their shoulders with honor and dignity endured the severe trials that became the tragedy of the entire Soviet people. And we mourn for those who did not return from the battlefields and died the death of the brave in battle. Their feat will forever remain in our hearts.
Many internationalist soldiers and veterans who survived the fire of “hot spots” are still in service. You make a great contribution to the patriotic education of the youth of the Ivatsevichi region and increase the prestige of military service. Your heroism, valiant deeds for the good and glory of the Motherland serve as an example for the younger generation, future soldiers and officers.
Please accept my words of appreciation and gratitude for your courage and perseverance. We sincerely wish you good health, peace of mind, long and happy years of life!
