Today, February 15, the district leadership, representatives of law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, clergy and public organizations, youth and city residents came to the monument to internationalist soldiers on Lenin Street in the district center to honor the memory and pay tribute to those who fulfilled their international duty in Afghanistan. .
More than 30,000 of our compatriots took part in the fighting in Afghanistan. Of these, 789 died, 718 remained disabled, 12 are considered missing, five were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. The list of participants in military operations in Afghanistan includes more than two hundred natives of our region, eight of whom stepped into immortality.
On December 19, 2023, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 403 On the establishment of the anniversary medal “35 years of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
